The Global Pet Obesity Initiative (GPOI) unites leading veterinary organizations worldwide to combat pet obesity. Its guidelines establish a universal definition of obesity, standardize body condition scoring for companion animals, and officially recognize obesity as a disease—creating a shared framework to improve diagnosis, communication, and care for pets everywhere.
